The Canton Housing Authority is seeking an experienced housing professional to serve as its Occupancy Specialist. The CHA is a small housing authority with a total of 145 low – income public housing units located on three sites. CHA does not operate the Housing Choice Voucher Program.
The ideal candidate must possess a range of skills and abilities in order to qualify for this position. Bachelor’s degree preferred in human services, social work, or public/business administration or related field. POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Quality Control/HCV Coordinator, this position is responsible for determining the initial and on-going eligibility for participation in the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program in accordance with the federal, state, local, and the Housing Authority of Fulton County (HAFC) requirements. The position will be filled on a temporary to permanent basis.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor’s degree in a related field from a four (4) year accredited institution plus two (2) years of related work experience is required or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience (HUD housing experience preferred). Knowledge of HUD and federal regulations as it relates to the Housing Choice Voucher/Section 8 Program, to include HUD forms, policies and procedures. Knowledge of the laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relative to the management of HCV Program to include, eligibility requirements. Preference is HCV Occupancy Specialist Certification from nationally recognized credentialing agency at hire. Ability to obtain professional certification (HCV Specialist) within first four (4) months of employment if not certified at hire.

The GAHRA Scholarship Committee is privileged to announce that this year GAHRA will be awarding up to $37,500 in scholarship funds to graduating high school seniors and adult students of GAHRA member agencies.
For high school students, GAHRA will fund academic scholarships for programs leading to an undergraduate degree as well as vocational/technical scholarships. In addition, SERC/NAHRO will fund two academic scholarships. For adult students, GAHRA will fund academic scholarships and vocational/technical scholarships.
Please identify your prospective candidates and inform them of this opportunity immediately. The enclosed eligibility and application materials are separated into two packets – one for high school students and one for adult students. Please copy and distribute to your candidates as needed. Your authority should solicit as many students as possible to determine your authority’s applicants. Only one academic and one vocational/technical application per authority may be submitted to the Scholarship Committee for the High School Student Scholarships. Similarly, only one academic and one vocational/technical application per authority may be submitted to the Scholarship Committee for the Adult Student Scholarships. This position performs various duties related to the maintenance of 185 public housing units, supervises maintenance staff, contractors and vendors. Position requires skills in electrical, plumbing, carpentry, snow removal, grounds keeping, vacancy turnovers and general cleaning procedures. The Housing Authority of Fulton County, Georgia (HAFC) is seeking an experienced Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Supervisor. As of December 2018, the HAFC currently owns and/or manages Housing Choice Vouchers (847); Ports administered by HAFC (1310); Mixed-Finance ACC Units (132); RAD/Project-Based Vouchers (100); Project-Based Vouchers (90); Low Income Public Housing Units (9); Bond-Financed Properties (6); and Conventional Home-Ownership (1).
Under the direction of the Director of Operation, this position provides day-to-day administration oversight and monitoring of the HCV programs to include, the Family Self Sufficiency (FSS) program and performing quality control reviews. Ensures that policies and guidelines, established by the HAFC and the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) are followed. The HCV Supervisor will be responsible to supervise, assign, review and monitor work of staff responsible for providing HCV program services to include, FSS to participants and ensure compliance with all related Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations and agency policies.
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Science or a related field is preferred. A minimum of three (3) years of Supervisory Experience administering the regulations that govern subsidized housing and HCV Programs including or supplemented by experience in data collection and analysis, and quality control or risk assessment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. SEMAP and PHA experience is preferred. Knowledge of HUD and federal regulations as it relates to the HCV Programs to include HUD forms, policies, and procedures. Knowledge of Conventional Housing Programs to include, Mixed-Finance and traditional public Housing will be considered an asset.
